Gaming in engineering
If you visit Northern Illinois University, you can find engineering professor Brianno Coller teaching “Dynamic Systems and Control” and “Computational Methods”. You might ask the question how does he teach these engineering principles. The answer is video games.
I found an AP PIECE on Coller that described how he got inspired to write a set of games that have been extremely successful in teaching required formulas & algorithms that apply to all types of engineering. In fact, the games have been so successful, he has received a grant from the National Science Foundation to expand his “gaming as teaching” approach to new engineering classes in the future.
Fun and games…we call it learning. Visit Coller’s site for more information about his unique program.
Update: While the link to the AP piece has expired, I found this above video…which is much better anyway.
